Its database includes a huge amount of information that you can access in real-time to configure analytic reports about your website performance. You can use it to answer questions such as where visitors enter your site, which paths they take through the site, where they leave, how long they stay, and more. "Visual analytics" is a buzzword that means many things to many people. One of its meanings is literally a visual pie-chart-and-graph-type view of data previously housed in the dry cells of spreadsheets. Of course, there is software to help you analyze the analysis you already have, such as Spotfire's DecisionSite, a visual data analysis application. It will take data from any source (spreadsheets, database products, data warehouses, etc.) combine it and transform it into visual representations. The idea is to take your analytics data beyond the dashboard, combine it with other analytics data available in your company, and then create queries and reports on the fly that allow you to spot trends, patterns and unexpected relationships in your data - all in the form of user-friendly, colorful bar and pie charts, scatter plots and diagrams. The Web Analytics Association (WAA) is the association of who's who in Web analytics. From its humble beginnings in 2005 it has grown into a robust resource for legislative representation, industry standardization, networking, discussion and more. Visit the site for current news and articles on the subject, to peruse a calendar of events coming to a city near you and to use the job board, where you can post jobs, find jobs or post your resume. WAA is led by Chairman Bryan Eisenberg (of GrokDotCom) and President Jim Sterne (of Targeting.com). A one-year professional membership runs $129(US), which seems like very good value to us.
