Christine Churchill of Key Relevance has compiled this list of people who make a living on some aspect
of search marketing, whether SEM or SEO, along with interesting other folks who are experts in Social Media, web conversion,
Google-watching or some other aspect of Internet Marketing.
Regular readers of Web Digest For Marketers will recognize many of the 200 (at writing) names on the
list, including Amanda Watlington and Tim Ash, as well as the publisher of this newsletter.
Dell knows Twitter. So do its employees; some of whom are Social Media superstars, like Susan Beebe, who
lists "Chief Listener" in Global Social Media among her credits.
Her 500-member list of "Smarties" (575 followers) crosses all kinds of boundaries: while heavy on Social
Media regulars such as Scott Monty and Chris Brogan, she includes cross-channel players (email guru Loren McDonald, Google's Matt Cutts
and Avinash Kaushik), worthy celebrity Tweeters such as John Cleese and Richard Branson and Twitter feeds for publications such as The
Huffington Post and ReadWriteWeb.
Internet pioneer Steve Case has compiled a list of worthy tweeters, none of whom likely has ever published a
tweet saying "Cold pizza for breakfast. Yum!"
The list is heavy on tech, business and political news and commentary but includes a few surprises, such as
high-profile conservative preacher Rick Warren, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, business guru Jack Welch and the
"Freakonomics" authors.
In an interview with Web Digest For Marketers, Steve Rubel predicted – accurately, as it turned out -- that
"curation" was going to become a major force, to organize and prioritize all the information that streams around us daily.
This list is one of several well curated lists he has created on his Twitter account. It features a collection
of people whose opinions and comments he values. The list includes news and tech giants (Thomas L. Friedman of The New York Times, Bill Gates
and Google's Eric Schmidt and Marissa Mayer), Edelman colleagues and think-tank blogs like The 99% for Behance.
[Note: As we edited this very review, we were notified via Twitter direct message about Formulists, a new service that creates Twitter lists for you using your preferences and Twitter data.
This is the next step up from self-created Twitter lists and another development Steve predicted in his interview with Web Digest
For Marketers.]
