| This site is brought to you by the Economic Intelligence Unit, which is part of the renowned Economist publication. The goal of the site is "to provide senior
international executives with insight into all the strategic ramifications of the digital age." So, what does that mean?
Backed by some of the global leaders in e-business (AT&T, Oracle, etc.) the site covers five areas of e-business: leadership interviews and essays; analytical research material; best practice case studies; the latest developments in the e-business marketplace; and e-business prospects in 60 countries. Choose a country, and you'll find information on taxation, laws, regulations, e-commerce, news and issues, e-business readiness rankings and other statistics. If you're looking for the big picture, do stop here. It
would take a lot of time and research to put together similarly comprehensive country-specific e-business snapshots on your own.
| eMarketer aggregates and analyzes research data from over 1,500 research sources, then filters and organizes the data into comprehensive reports which are available for purchase on the site. Keep on top of the latest topics by subscribing to the no-cost daily newsletter, which sends a chart or graph or two your way every day. When you need just that specific piece of data, consider the subscription-based eStat database, which contains over 27,000 charts, tables and articles presented in JPG and GIF formats so that they can be inserted into documents. The annual subscription rate is $5000(US), while a 30-day pass runs $750.
| Nielsen//NetRatings tallies audience measurement on a weekly and monthly basis. You'll find usage statistics as well as Top 10 Parent Companies (sites visited) for countries around the world. The monthly NetReporter newsletter delivers more details on current industry trends, from online shopping to the demographic groups that are making a difference on the Web. Featured data from AdRelevance includes leading industry portfolios, most popular ad sizes and a look at the largest online advertisers for a given time period. While the site is not always up to date, it remains one of the best sources for what's happening on the Net.
| Statistics.com houses statistics in a number of categories, from agriculture to transportation. The data behind the categories is derived from numerous national and international sources, mostly government or quasi-government, like the Brookings Institute. Geared to students, researchers and teachers, the site
also lists statistics courses offered by the Institute for Professional Education and offers no-cost downloads of statistical software for your number-crunching pleasure.
| The American Community Survey is an ongoing nationwide survey designed to complement the US national census, which is taken once every ten years. The goal is to provide updated demographic, housing, social and economic information more frequently than once a decade, since the resulting data is used to make billion-dollar decisions on federal program funding. Currently the ACS provides updated annual data for all states, as well as for all cities, counties, metropolitan areas and population groups of 65,000 people or more. Check out the site for yearly data profiles in either tabular or narrative format. You'll discover updated information on age distribution, household type, nativity, language, geographic mobility, education, occupation, commute time, housing costs, income and more. You can also compare data year-to-year to assess changes over time.
