ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index)

This site is a great resource for tracking customer satisfaction over time. ACSI was developed by the National Quality Research Center at the University of Michigan Business School. As an analytical tool, the ongoing studies answer questions about customer satisfaction, the quality level of the nation's output of goods and services and whether or not they are improving or declining. ACSI benchmarks industries by sectors as well as specific industries, specific companies and overall satisfaction indices by quarter.

ACSI also captures "statistical data that predicts how incremental changes and enhancements to specific aspects of a retail website will impact future behaviors". A key indicator index, ACSI is funded in part by corporate subscribers who receive industry benchmarking data, company-specific information about financial returns gained from improving customer satisfaction and specialized ACSI modeling and analysis software in exchange for a yearly corporate sponsorship of $30,000(US). The rest of us can benefit from the extensive (and fascinating) consumer studies available at the site.

CRM Evaluation

ZDNet calls this product "The Rolls-Royce of decision making tools." Powered by a patented decision support system and geared to the IT decision makers, the tool enables software buyers to match their CRM, ERP, EAM, PLM and SCM software requirements to vendor product capabilities. If you want to see how this works, visit the evaluation center and enter your parameters (such as industry, annual revenue, budget, number of users, etc.). The system will return a list of vendors with check marks by the ones that best fit your requirements. You’ll also receive graphs charting the relative strengths and weaknesses of the top vendor selections. Take it a step further by assigning an importance level to each module, and watch the graph change. Very cool. A free trial evaluation is frequently available as well. Pricing for full use of the evaluation center starts at $200(US) for a senior executive edition license and goes to $5000(US) for one month of unlimited access. Be sure to sign up for their free newsletter, which provides more than 200,000 IT pros with independent, unbiased technology evaluation content, free research products, online tools and industry news.
